CO2 emissions

Kathmandu breathes some of the dirtiest air in the world. The average life expectancy is reduced by 2+ years due to air pollution, and 1 out of 10 people suffer from chronic lung diseases such as COPD, bronchitis and emphysema.

Trade deficits

Nepal spent approx. Rs. 200 billion last year in importing petrol (40% of import bill), diesel and gas, widening the country’s already yawning trade deficit.

Foreign exchange

Foreign exchange risk has severely impacted Nepal’s economy leaving no option but to buy fuel at a higher cost.
